Cape Cod is a 65 mile long peninsula jutting into the sparkling waters of the Massachusetts coast. It was originally named by Bartholomew Gosnold, an exploring sea captain, who in 1602, noticed the abundance of cod fish in the surrounding waters, thus naming the peninsula “Cape Cod.”

Ever since, cod have been figured prominently in Cape Cod’s history. It wasn’t until 1997 that a local Cape Cod family honored this fish, depicting “THE CAPE COD,” the first logo echoing the peninsula’s shape and that of the cod fish. “THE CAPE COD T-SHIRT” has quickly become a favorite garment of many Cape Codders and wanna-be-wash-ashores alike, eager to join this Cape Cod tradition.
